Alexandria's medicine port in her extension tube kept on popping open last night (even though we closed and taped it shut) resulting in Alex laying in a pool of formula...not once but twice in the middle of the night. The bed got fed, not Alex. We had to change the sheets and blankets and Alexandria's p.j.'s. This morning Alex was very definite about wanting to drink. She drank more via a cup then I have ever seen her drink before - 2 cups of cranberry juice mixed with water! And kept on asking for more...The poor kid was thirsty because she didn't get the fluids overnight she is used to getting...This mornings feed leaked also! All over the bed and my pyjama bottoms...this time nothing popped open...everything was leaking out of the taped up tube! The doctors are tying to figure out if this is an extension problem (maybe the ports got stretched out) or a problem with Alexandria's button. So far the new extension is not leaking (we are checking it every 10 min and giving Alex a double feed over an hour to make up for this mornings feed). Other then that - no fever still, thank God! Alex's energy level is rising during her wake times. No vomiting (at least not as of yet). She is not as pale although she still tires easily and then gets bags under her eyes and goes a bit white. Alex not getting her overnight feed may delay us going home a bit...We shall see. Alexandria makes us laugh. She tells all the doctors and nurses who come to our room "Bye-bye" as soon as she sees them. She closes her fists and shakes them and says "Yeah!" when they take her blood pressure and temperature to cheer herself on and then she claps for herself when it's all done. She won't drink out of a sippy cup...she wants to drink out a regular cup even though she has no idea how to do it really. She is a funny one. Definitely has a ton of personality! We'll keep you posted!
